Interesting Facts about me
Here are some fun and interesting facts about me and my journey to UX Research.
Musician
The past 2 decades I have been involved in music both as a life-long student and educator.
Educator
During my time as a student I was a founding member of Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps (2009-2012), a non-profit marching band. I played snare drum and was offered a leadership position during my final season. I then was an educator for the same organization for 4 years (2013, 2014, 2015, 2019) giving back to the students who share the same passion for percussion. I have taught at school all over the Rio Grande Valley and have taught well over 1000 students in my lifetime, most recently as an elementary music teacher.
Anthropologist
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Music from Texas State University
Anthropology
I took a trip to West Africa (Ghana and Senegal) to study rhythms and instrument construction techniques and fell in love with the cultures, languages, and people of West Africa. It is because of this trip that I chose to pursue a degree in Anthropology. I hope to return to Africa one day to study music, rhythms, and even languages.
World Traveler
I have traveled all over the US and to several continents.
Traveler
I have travelled, for work and pleasure, to over 40 US states (once over the span of 1 summer!). I have also travelled to the United Kingdom, Africa, Mexico and Europe. I hope, once the pandemic becomes less of a danger, to get back on the road and see more! The world is too big to stay stagnant. Travel!
UX Researcher
I have a certificate in UX/UI Design from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
UX Research
I am a people person, I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I learn from them, I empathize with them, and most importantly, I LISTEN to them. This is why I love UX! I seek ways to listen to people and create designs that show that I hear them.
